Choose Stewart Moving & Storage as your Cross Country Movers

Cross Country

North to south or east to west- the best cross country movers will have not only the top, expertly trained drivers in the industry but also the hauling fleet in house to ensure your belongings are handled with the utmost care from start to finish. Cross county moves don’t have to come with an equal number of headaches (or heartaches) to the total miles travelled.

When you choose Stewart Moving & Storage you know your belongings are staying within our hauling fleet- not to become a contract sold to an unknown entity. Just like Interstate moves- families looking to hire Cross Country Movers should also reference the FMCSA.dot.gov to ensure their Cross Country Move is as smooth and seamless as can be. Ensure if your chosen moving company is acting as a broker you are aware of it and have protections in place. Check for violations as well as complaints- it’s all a part of the technical due diligence of hiring cross country movers for your upcoming relocation.

Thankfully Cross Country Movers have come a LONG way from the covered wagons and horse drawn buggies of our forefathers. We no longer regularly risk dysentery from drinking contaminated water or struggle to find our way with the way GPS has simplified travel. Somehow, cross country moves still feel like an equally daunting task! Thankfully- Stewart Moving & Storage and our fleet of over 35 long haul trucks are here to help.

When planning a cross country move, it’s even more critical to plan as early as you can. There are many details to coordinate and that all takes time. Some of the best cross country movers, like Stewart Moving & Storage offer a (free- third party) concierge service that helps take some of the work off of your shoulders – like organizing all of your utility(cable, power, internet, water, gas, change of address) into 1 phone call and while offering exclusive discounts you may not have been able to get on your own. One of the most important factors in having an easy cross country move is to find a company that can handle just about anything that could possibly come up- all without you lifting a finger, besides to dial the phone and give them a call, of course. Look for a moving company that offers packing, does all they hauling with their own fleet (an not a broker or booking into a vanline system), one that can accommodate storage, even last minute if needed… once that can help with crating or auto transport if you want to fly instead of driving cross country yourself. Even if they work with partnerships to get some of these done- like with car transport, it’s really common, if they can arrange it all for you and just add it to your bill, that will take a lot of stress, aggravation off your shoulders while saving you time and, very likely, money!

We’re over here still trying to figure out HOW on EARTH people moved cross country back in the early days of covered wagons and it’s making us think of the old game Oregon trail… With all the technology, partnerships, and advanced that cross country moves easier today- they can still be quite the feat that we pride ourselves on executing in the most seamless way possible for our clients and their families! Ideally, the hardest part would be adjusting to the new time zone.

Clothes can add a lot of weight to a move, think about paring down your closet and try to hang on to just the essentials. Donate or dispose of any unwanted articles of clothing and be sure to remove all clothing from dressers, drawers, and other furniture so that these objects aren’t unnecessarily heavy. Whatever you choose to bring, be it one outfit or fifty, we can assist you in getting your wardrobe from one end of the country to the other all in one piece.

What should you not move long distance?

Our expert cross-country teams have plenty of experience with these kinds of major life changes, we are here for you and happy to help with the planning, scheduling, and so much more.

What items cannot be moved by movers

Most objects can be moved however there are items that are prohibited from being placed on the truck. These include anything classified as corrosive, explosive, or flammable. No opened liquids are permitted, however if they are still factory sealed and unopened they may be safely transported. Before moving it is important to dispose of any perishables like house plants or food as these cannot be transported either. You cannot transport anything living, this mostly relates to family pets. All of your beloved pets from the little goldfish to your favorite dog or cat will stay with you and keep you company as you begin the journey to your new home.
