August is here, it’s nearing the end of the summer and it’s come time for the kids to go back to school. For college students moving away from home can be one of the most exciting times of their lives. As a parent, it is a challenging change to make and filled with many mixed emotions. Don’t make this experience more stressful then it needs to be. Make sure you follow the right steps towards a stress-free move in day.

Be their biggest supporter:

This is the first time they are going to live somewhere other than at home with family: a new school, new room, new routine, and new friends. You have to remind them that you are very proud and excited!  It is important for them to feel confident in making the right decision toward the path to their future. With this confidence; it’ll make the move a whole lot smoother.

Help build them a home away from home:

Ask them what they do and don’t want to bring- their response might surprise you.  Plan a special shopping trip to get the new things they will need in their dorm room.   Your teen will be experiencing a range of emotions while settling in and you want to make sure they have everything they need and are very comfortable.

Plan for a stress- free move:

You already have a lot on your plate as is you don’t want to have to worry about packing items in the right boxes or lifting heavy boxes or furniture.  So, hire a professional mover and beat the August heat! Stewart Moving & Storage can fulfill all of your needs and help plan for even the unforeseen challenges of your teen’s move off to college! You won’t have anything to worry about
